Aloe dawei [Yellow Flower] is an evergreen cactus / succulent with green foliage. In winter yellow flowers emerge. Attracts beneficial insects and hummingbirds. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in winter. Does well in gritty and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.
Aloe dawei hails from Uganda and is easily identifiable by its clumped upright stems, which can grow up to 3-4 feet in height. Its fleshy green leaves radiate outward in a rosette around 2 feet in diameter and are noted for the reddish-brown serrated teeth that line the margins. The leaves can take on a subtly coppery red hue when exposed to full sunlight and dry conditions.
The yellow flowered form of Aloe dawei is an attractive addition to gardens and planters, with winter flowers that can be appreciated for their vibrant color.
This plant has been grown in a 2 gallon pot. You will receive a very similar plant to the one in the picture. The plant is shipped "dryroot" (without soil).
