Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A most lovely form of the old-fashioned mock orange with particularly striking variegated leaves on this 6-8 ft, arching, deciduous shrub. Shared with us by our friend, Deborah Chaffee, the flowers are particularly fragrant, noticeable at a great distance from spring through early summer and occasionally thereafter -- with regular watering. Drought tolerant once established; sun to dappled shade. Frost hardy in USDA zone 4.
One of the most sweetly fragrant and floriferous of the Mock Oranges, 'Innocence' has pristine, white, cup-shaped flowers freely borne on gracefully arching branch tips. It's a late spring and early summer bloomer. Foliage is splashed with creamy-white and chartreuse, giving it extended interest. 8' tall. Minimum temperature: -30?F
We like to inhale the intoxicating orange sweetness given up by these freely borne, pure white blossoms that openly welcome. Gathered at branch tips, the large 4-petaled flowers garnish ovate green leaves randomly splashed and streaked with creamy whites, yellows and golds. A courtly perfumed scene stealer, this 1900s Lemoine Nursery cross between Philadelphus microphyllus and Philadelphus coronarius matures into an imposing shrub with fluid, arching branches.
The variegation here is of the irregular splashy sort and very unstable, however the main attraction is the fragrance. 'Innocence' may be the most heavily scented of all the Mockoranges.
A deciduous shrub with pure white single flowers with a heavy scented fragrance of orange blossoms. The beautiful variegated foliage emerges a vivid creamy white, gold, and green. Maturing to mostly green late in the season. Likes full sun to light shade. Hardy zone 4-8. Grows 6-8' tall, blooming in early summer.
Sweetly fragrant of citrus blossoms! 1-2" pure white dogwood-like flowers are born singly and in clusters for an extended period in spring. The next surprise is the beautifully mottled and splashed, creamy white to gold and green variegated foliage that will provide the show until fall. An upright to arching deciduous shrub which is fairly drought tolerant once well established in the garden.
Foliage often variegated in creamy-white is a lovely accent to the single fragrant creamy-white flowers that are borne "with extraordinary freedom" (Hillier) by this 6-8' shrub; one of the most fragrant. Sun/Med
Perhaps the most fragrant of all the Mockoranges. Single, pure white flowers borne with extraordinary freedom. The leaves are SOMETIMES splashed with an irregular creamy white margin, not a consistent feature, however. Our cuttings are done from plants that don't have the variegation but I suppose it could show this later. But, that isn't the important part of this plant! It's perhaps the MOST fragrant of them all! Interesting orangish-red bark that peels. Disease and insect free.

A variegated mock orange that has splashed white on dark green leaves. The flowers are 2 inches across and are pure white. Makes a nice change from the typical mock oranges.
