Plectranthus dolichopodus is a broadleaf evergreen perennial with green foliage. In summer blue flowers emerge. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with bright shade - mostly shade and regular water. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil.
This stunning South African native incited plenty of plant lust in those who got to see it bloom last year. To 2’ tall and wide, it bears masses of 5” spikes of intense, deep blue flowers above attractive, serrated leaves. We had ours in a 12” container with rich, well-drained soil in bright shade. Plectranthus is VERY EASY to grow, as it is related to Coleus. It does appear to be cold sensitive, so grow it as an annual or protect from freezing temps OR, like a Coleus, bring her inside for the Winter.
