Nursery contributed plant descriptions

An absolutely massive and ULTRA RARE “Century Plant”! Growing up to a whopping 7’ tall and 12’ across, its long, narrow, serrated leaves form a loose, solitary rosette. We grow our plants from seed, so color may vary, but it is generally a blue-gray or blue-green when mature. Native to the canyons and dry woodlands of Jalisco, Mexico, it is highly prized for a mezcal called raicilla made from its massive heart. Once fully mature, it produces an airy 20’ tall flower spike with clusters of golden blooms loved by bees, hummers and a plethora of wildlife. After flowering, the plant will die (along with all your dreams of home-brewed mescal), but it should reseed for future generations of booze in potentia. Provide good drainage and protect from frost.
