Amsonia hubrichtii 'Butterscotch' plant details

Don't overlook Amsonia hubrictii, including the gorgeous 'Butterscotch' variety. There's nothing like the needle-like leaves when they blaze in shades of gold and amber in autumn. It's one of the special perennials that makes for spectacular fall color, unusual among your front of border 2 foot tall perennials. Tough and carefree despite the delicate look of its feathery textured leaves, which are pretty in green the rest of the growing season. Butterflies like to visit the light blue flowers in spring. This is definitely a plant to make room for, not seen often enough.

Amsonia hubrichtii 'Butterscotch' is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with green foliage. In spring blue flowers emerge. Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and regular - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in acidic, alkaline, average, clay, gritty, lean, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and humidity tolerant.
