Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Echinacea purpurea 'Green Twister' displays unusual, lime green flowers with carmine-red centers and a large purple-red center cone. The petals curve forward, adding interest. Long lasting cut flowers. Easy to grow in any well-drained soil. Echinacea requires little water once established. Plant in mixed borders, cutting gardens and mass plantings. Deadhead regularly, but leave last coneflower heads for birds.
Irresistible to butterflies, long-blooming, ultra-colorful, and carefree. The petals are held nearly straight out, not reflexed, from the bloom. Highly floriferous from mid-summer to late fall.
Green Twister' is a strong and vigorous seed strain developed from the classic Echinacea 'Magnus', widely accepted as the best of all purple coneflowers. 'Green Twister' shares these strong genes but produces intriguing lime green petals that turn magenta near the dark red centre cone. It blooms abundantly from July through September on sturdy stems to 40 inches tall. Echinacea in coastal BC should be planted in hot sunny spots with thin poor soils to best survive the winter.
