Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A medium sized shrub with large bunches of flowers in the early spring, and small leaves with a dense texture during the summer. Spirea plants are very easy to grow and flower heavily even as small plants. Very little trimming is necessary to keep the plant's form, unlike many other shrubs that require annual pruning to look their best. Spirea will grow in both sun and shade, and is also tolerant of both wet and dry conditions. Once established, plants will grow with minimal water during the summer. They can be easily propagated by both softwood and hardwood cuttings, or clump divisions.
