Similar to Sasa palmata, 'Kurilensis' grows eight to ten feet in height and has large leaves that appreciate shade. The leaves are variegated differently than other bamboo species, however, as the variegation appears to have been lightly painted with a brush.

We have found that the variegation fades when given too much sun or shade but looks best when grown in a dappled environment.
