Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Phyllostachys bambusoides 'Albovariegata' is a medium sized bamboo with bright variegation. It's a faster grower than 'Richard Haubrich' which has more intense variegation but is very slow to mature, and can achieve a full sized grove in 5 to 7 years under ideal conditions. The new leaves are highly variegated, especially on new shoots, but turn greener over the course of the summer. The greener leaves during the summer allow the plant to grow quicker because of the increase in chlorophyll.

Like the species, the wood is of high quality and is very strong.
