Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Phyllostachys bambusoides 'Allgold' is a medium seized timber bamboo with bright golden-colored canes. On a mature grove, the branches usually begin at about ten feet high, however pruning the tops of the culms will cause branches to grow lower. In this way, 'Allgold' can be kept as a hedge plant. Otherwise, it will grow to an impressive and colorful timber grove.

Like most bamboos with a yellow or gold stem, the new shoots will often turn red or dark orange for a short time with full sun. The mixed red, yellow and orange culms with the dark green foliage provide make this an excellent plant for landscaping.

'Allgold' has sweet shoots which are good to eat and the large timber is strong for crafts or larger structures.

Really striking!, this well-named bamboo has culms which start as an almost translucent yellow and age to a showy gold, a wonderful backdrop for its green or cream-variegated foliage. Sun/Med/Contain
Striking new culms are a glowing yellow, turning gold as they age, with occasional cream stripes on the leaves. It is somewhat smaller than the species and truly outstanding.
