A stunning focal point for gardens of any size; gorgeous ferny-foliage that is a rich dark-purple burgundy on a small weeping tree, eventually reaching 15-20' across in the garden, it can be kept smaller in a container; its soft fuzzy pink flowers in summer only add to the beauty of this wonderful tree; from North Carolina this charmer can withstand heat and humidity. S/M
This silk tree has deep purple divided leaves all summer. This new cultivar is a moderate sized weeping form. The foliage appears late in the spring (May) to the point gardeners think the plant is gone.
A stunning deciduous small tree, grown for its weeping form and striking chocolate colored fern like foliage. Pink flower puffs appear in summer adding to this plant's exotic appeal. Fast growing, but plants can get winter dieback in the colder zones. Where plants are not reliably hardy, it can be grown as a striking container specimen, and wintered over in a garage or barn once it becomes dormant. This small tree or large shrub can grow to 15-25' tall and wide in open ground, but can be pruned hard to work in smaller spaces. Average water needs. Shipping 24-30" plants in trade gallons.
