Eucomis 'Rhode Island Red' is a broadleaf deciduous perennial bulb / corm / tuber with burgundy and green foliage. In summer burgundy, pink and white flowers emerge followed by brown and green fruit. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and even moisture - occasional water. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.
This is a BIG one, up to 3 feet tall, the result of two large parents, E. autumnalis ssp. pole-evansii and E. 'Sparkling Burgundy' ! A large, luscious, upright rosette of leaves surround an even taller spike. Starry, white, pink, and burgundy florets clad this tower in August and September, culminating in the Eucomis signature topknot or flourish at its apex.Ships when dormant.
