cactus / succulent
Agave victoriae-reginae 'White Rhino' is a slow-growing evergreen cactus / succulent with green, variegated and white foliage. In summer chartreuse and green flowers emerge followed by green fruit. Attracts bees and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in winter. Does well in average, gritty, lean, rocky and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.
The Agave victoriae-reginae 'Albomarginata', commonly known as the White Rhino Agave, is a small succulent prized for its tight-fitting rosettes of deep green leaves edged with broad white bands. It reaches up to 12 inches tall and 16 inches wide, forming solitary rosettes with smooth to toothed edges and short terminal spines. Native to Mexico, it prefers full sun to light shade and well-drained soil, thriving in USDA zones 9a to 11b. This evergreen plant is cultivated for its ornamental value, both indoors and outdoors, and is suitable for containers or garden beds. It requires typical succulent care, avoiding excess water to prevent rot. While highly sought after for its unique appearance and rarity, it is toxic to pets and children and deer resistant.
