    Bergenia ciliata 'Dumbo' is an evergreen pig squeak with huge leaves. White to pale pink spring flowers bloom on upright stems above thick, fuzzy, round to oval, mid green foliage that can be up to 14 inches across! Foliage blushes pink to reddish in winter. Use as a focal point in small gardens or as a ground cover cascading over retaining walls or down slopes or around the trunks of trees or mix with other foliage types in the shady garden to create textural contrast. Pollinator attractor. Deer and rabbit resistant.

    This large leafed deciduous pig squeak is quite the foliage plant. The plant can get up to a couple feet wide in time. The large green leaves have bristly hairs. The flowers are pink rising above the foliage.

    Bergenia ciliata ‘Dumbo’, sometimes called Pig Squeak, is an evergreen perennial with round, thick, glossy dark green foliage that blushes a lovely pink in winter. Attractive white to pale pink flowers bloom on upright stems in the spring. Prefers moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Heartleaf Bergenia is good in borders, edgings, mass plantings, rock gardens, and as a groundcover.

    Huge, rounded, supple leaves with a furry surface (ciliata) surround short red stalks with clusters of soft pink flowers, each containing a spritz of beautifully protruding white-anthered red stamens — a distinctive feature of this flower.
