Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Lush round leaves emerge opulent purple in spring, but as the weather heats up, they deepen to nearly black! Hefty blooms appear in summer which become the unusual pink 'smoke' flowers this shrub is known for. Autumn finds this bush lit up with fiery reds and oranges. This shrub is wonderfully easy-care and requires no pruning; and at only 4-6' it fits into any sized landscape or large container. S/M PPAF
We have always loved the dark leafed Smokebush but it is TOO BIG for many uses! This is a brand new, semi dwarf, compact, rounded selection 4-6’ tall! The deciduous foliage emerges in spring red purple, maturing to deep purple, almost black by end of summer. Early summer brings on fluffs of hazy violet ‘smoke’ flowers. Nice orange fall color. Sun for best color, most soils, appreciates some summer water. Excited about this one!!
