Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Eucomis 'Aloha Leia' is a compact pineapple lily that provides a tropical-look in the garden plus the fragrance of coconut! The glossy, broad and strappy foliage has wavy edges that add interest while waiting for the unusual purple flower spikes to emerge in late summer. The flowers on the inflorescence look like a pineapple with a tuft of bracts at the top. Clump-forming to 12 to 15 inches tall and wide. Very easy to grow in free-draining soils and in containers. Full sun for best results. Use as a focal point and as cut flowers. Mulch in winter with fallen leaves or protect in a frost free location. Pollinator attractor. Hardy to zone 7b.
Another sweet dwarf, compact rosettes of succulent, strappy, wavy edged, pointed leaves with tiny cranberry dotting 10-12” tall and 18” wide; short burgundy spikes of flowers smell like coconut in mid-summer. A tropical look…awesome as a pot specimen or front and center! Sun to part sun, decent garden soil, regular water (dryness ok when established). Lasts for weeks as a cut flower.
Starry burgundy flowers strung along multiple spikes, purple spotted leaves with wavy edges and the sweet, warm scent of coconut - this eucomis earns an up close spot where it can be appreciated. Eucomis Leia is a petite beauty that matures to 12" and clumps to a 15" rosette. Blooming with dark purple buds and saturated burgundy flowers during July and August, this easy care breakthrough adds interest, and color all season long . . . plus fragrance! Winter hardy to zone 6 with protective mulch.
