The single-flowered species originated in Damascus and Southern Europe, however the double form was found in English gardens by 1597. 'Cramer's Plum' has pure white flowers consisting of many overlapping petals with pointed tips. Each flower is surrounded with a lace collar of thread-like foliage. Later, balloon-shaped pods of a rich plum red hue develop. A great addition to dry flower bouquets. Spring to summer bloom.
