Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This big-leaf is very similar to the closely related hodgsonii , with similar flowers, bark and habit. It differs in the striking, deep red-brown, thick indumentum on its lower leaf surfaces. The leaves are held stiffly upright on the stems, providing a fantastic display of this colorful indumentum. A bonus to the outstanding foliage is the ornamental, smooth and peeling, reddish-brown bark. Worth growing for the foliage alone and seems to be quite hardy. A new species?
