Nursery contributed plant descriptions

2-inch, bell-shaped flowers open from dark rose-colored buds to reveal pink to rose coloration, sometimes blotched with crimson. Trusses tend to be lax and are composed of 5-8 flowers. Very attractive, dark green foliage is orbicular to ovate and a waxy gray-blue underneath.
Rhododendron callimorphum Medium-growing rounded evergreen shrubs with small rounded to ovate deep green leaves, somewhat reminiscent of R. williamsianum but actually more like a pink version of caloxanthum. The delicate bell-shaped flowers (late spring) are pink to deep rose or rarely white with a darker basal blotch. A lovely smaller species seldom seen in cultivation but with masses of long-lasting flowers. Best in light shade with good drainage. Grown from hand-pollinated seed produced here in the RSBG.
