    Zauschneria cana 'John Bixby' is a broadleaf semi-evergreen perennial with blue and green foliage. In fall and summer red flowers emerge. Attracts bees, beneficial insects and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Does well in average, gritty, lean, rocky and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant.

This selection gets slightly taller than the typical native species, to 18" tall, and 4-5' wide. Full sun in well-drained soil. Excellent on slopes or in the mixed border. Hummingbird attractor. Frost hardy to upper USDA zone 7.
