Agave schidigera is an evergreen cactus / succulent with green foliage. In spring and summer green, purple and yellow flowers emerge. Attracts hummingbirds. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in winter. Does well in gritty, lean, rocky and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

Once considered a separate species, A. schidigera, this is very similar to the above. Both are very cold hardy, to below 20 °F. It tends to be solitary and typically has longer more flexible leaves that are not thickened toward the base. It also has larger flowers.
