Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Incredibly rare, this fabulous cultivar of the dove tree features a striking chartreuse mid-rib surrounded by a deep-green perimeter. The variegation is bright in spring before deepening to a more restrained green on green for summer. The toothed, heart-shaped foliage is so pretty it makes waiting so long for this tree to bloom worth the wait! The dramatic white bracts that Davidia are famous for will eventually appear in May-June, looking much like doves perched in the tree. Slow-growing to 20-30', a very unique and choice specimen. Excellent serrated leaves that come to a dramatic sharp point. Flowers are white and hang like a handkerchief. They also resemble a dove sitting on the branches - hence the name.
Very limited. The foliage is the typical jagged edge of Davidia involucrata, but the margins are broad and deep green. The center of the leaf will be golden yellow. We first saw this plant 8 years ago and were impressed and of course wanted the plant. WOW!
