Persicaria 'Indian Summer' is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with green and purple foliage. In fall and summer pink flowers emerge. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and regular water. Does well in average and well-drained soil.
A selection by plantsman and plant hunter Michael Wickenden from his collection in the Mishmi Hills of India and aptly named for the late summer display of small deep red-pink flowers. These are nicely displayed over the broadly rounded leaves which when given enough sun, take on purple coloring. We brought this back from our visit to Michael's beautiful nursery, Cally Gardens in Scotland. We have no idea as to hardiness as we have not yet planted it outside and Cally Gardens is on the warm west side of Scotland but this seems like it should be tolerable down to zone 7 anyway. Let us know how it does.
