This fabulous compact 3' evergreen shrub spreads slowly by suckering, it has gleaming, leathery leaves that are wider, glossier and darker green than the species. Tiny-white flowers have a delightful and far-reaching fragrance and bloom from late winter into early spring; compact growth to 2-3' tall and 3-4' wide. A fantastic shrub for woodland or shade garden. PSh-Sh/M 'Sarsid2' PP#19,951
'Fragrant Mountain' Sweet Box with its small white blossoms offers the gift of fragrance in late-late winter and early spring. A low broadleaf evergreen shrub, it grows 1+2' tall and spreads by stolons to a width of 2' or more. 'Fragrant Mountain' is the hardiest form of Sweet Box', but it should be sited in a protected spot in the colder parts of zones 6 and 7. We plan to us it in containers with hellebores and pansies for an early spring display.
In late winter/very early spring you will follow your nose to this dwarf clump-forming shrub to enjoy the sweet, sweet fragrance from its small, small white flowers. 'Fragrant Mountain' is 18'' tall and spreading to 36'' wide with glossy dark green, narrow leaves. Happiest in deep to part shade, it will tolerate some sun with ample water. Disease-resistant, evergreen, and darn good-looking.
