Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Athyrium otophorum ‘Okanum’ features glossy, light green fronds on dark red stems. Adds an elegant texture to shady garden areas. New foliage emerges burgundy, then unfolds to a gold-green color. Deciduous. Deer resistant. Ferns thrive in neutral to acidic, loose, richly organic soil. Auriculate Lady Fern is excellent for mass plantings, rock gardens, containers, in woodlands and naturalized landscapes.
Perhaps my favourite fern: the triangular fronds have red stems (stipes) and emerge with tightly furled, red-flushed foliage which turns to pale yellow-green (almost gold) and eventually to light green. An outstanding specimen plant for the front of the shade border or the woodland garden.
