Hot on the heals of 'Ghost' is 'Branford Beauty', another cross between lady fern (Athyrium filix-femina) and Japanese painted fern (A. niponicum 'Pictum'). The result is a clump-forming rigidly upright large fern with the habit of lady fern but the silver colouration of the Japanese painted fern including red stalks. Plant anywhere in shade, even in rather dry conditions. Extremely vigorous, it is about a foot shorter than 'Ghost' growing to two feet tall by two and a half feet wide.
