A large growing Pachypodium species, aka the Madagascar Palm. (They are not palms; they are pachycaul (thick trunked) trees from Madagascar. White flowers emerge at the top growth with glossy, green, oval leaves. Deciduous, drops leaves in winter. Can get up to 20 feet tall and just as wide, but takes a long time.
Deciduous. Can be kept outside in warmer months, protect from afternoon sun. No water in winter. Light Shade. Sweet scented White Flowers with a Yellow throat. Indoor.

Not really a palm, but this beautiful plant with it's thick, thorny trunk and top-knot of leaves resembles a small palm tree. A durable small tree indoors or out. I'm pretty sure Heathcliff wouldn't eat this one.
Drake SW Madagascar. Easiest of the genus to grow. Rapid grower, can reach 8m high and .6m wide!
