Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Amsonia t. v. s. is a late spring and summer bloomer that wants a position in partial shade where it can enjoy direct sunlight only during the coolest hours of the day. It has panicles of light blue star flowers atop ferny stems that reach ca. 2.5 feet; fairly dense growth. As an herbaceous plant with golden-orange fall color for a significant period of time it's doubly valuable.
Blue stars are North American natives with handsome glossy foliage and star-shaped blue flowers. Variety salicifolia blooms slightly later in the summer than the species and sports significantly narrower, graceful, willow-shaped leaves that turn beautiful fall colours of yellows and oranges. Deer resistant.
