Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Chinese Astilbe bloom later and are more tolerant of drier soils than most of the other Astilbe species and hybrids. 'Visions in White' sends forth chunky white plumes on 2' stems above dark, somewhat shiny foliage in mid summer. Some literature is reporting this as drought tolerant, but it really is at its best in a soil that does hold some moisture, and it wills spread modestly where happy.
This vigorous selection, with its mound of smooth, glossy, bronze-green leaves, adds elegance to the mixed border all season. In bloom 'Vision in White' is spectacular: large, creamy white plumes of fragrant flowers rise above the foliage like a cloud.
