Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Late flowering and sun tolerant; tall plants that extend the season for Astilbe. ZONE 4
A beautiful new Astilbe that doesn’t mind our mild Winters! Reliably perennial up to USDA zone 10a (around the S.F. Bay), this Astilbe also doesn’t mind a little dryness! The graceful, richly colored, rosy-purple plumes appear in late Summer, a welcome sight at that time of year, especially in the shade garden. The attractive, rich green, divided foliage is tough & pest free. Grows 40" tall and 25" wide. Astilbes thrive best in rich soil with lots of compost. If you plant them in sun, add a good layer of mulch so they won’t dry out too much. Excellent cut flowers you won’t find at the florists!
