Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Another fab Pineapple Lily from Terra Nova Nursery, with 2’ clumps of thickened,super-wide foliage generously dipped in burgundy and holding its color well all season; flower spikes in late summer are burgundy on stout, no flop stems. This Eucomis has enhanced hardiness and will provide a glowing tropical flair to gardens in well drained soils, full to half day sun and watering when dry. Also quite content in pottery.
From Terra Nova Nursery, this new selection is said to have originated as an even darker seedling of 'Oakhurst' which has wintered over in our gardens here in zone 6A. The images we've seen show the flowers to be bit more saturated in color…a nice plum pink color. Foliage grows to about 18-20" with the flower stems reaching a good 2'. Grow in wells trained soil, and full sun.
Zulu Flame' pineapple lily has broad, warm burgundy leaves that is thicker and never flops like other Eucomis. The shorter, sturdier, burgundy flower stems hold deep pink flowers that together look like a pineapple. Use in pots or as a stately focal point in the perennial border. Full sun for best foliage colour. Grow in containers or the ground.
TERRA NOVA® 'Zulu Flame' has darker purple leaves than Eucomis 'Oakhurst' with a much improved habit. The broader, thicker foliage never flops and the flowers are darker on shorter stalks. TERRA NOVA® 'Zulu Flame' will add a tropical touch without any fuss. Hardy to at least zone 6, this vigorous, cold tolerant gem should find its way into a featured garden spot or a special pot from coast to coast.
