Tulipa 'Bridesmaid' is a historic Rembrandt tulip introduced around 1900 that resembles the Broken Tulips. It has glowing pinkish red flowers with variable white stripes and feathers on stems up to 20 inches high. Every flower is different. It is part of the historical group Bizarre. Large hybrid tulips can be maintained in the garden if given a sunny location with rich soil and slow release fertilizer when in growth. Hybrid tulips can persist in the garden for many years. Afterall, they rebloom each year in the fields of the Netherlands. Provide full sun where bulbs aren't shaded by other plants, fertilize with bulb food as soon as they emerge in spring, and allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
The long, slender shape of this lovely broken tulip is what sets it apart from all of its sisters. A Cottage tulip of "brilliant cherry rose flushed and striped with scarlet, violet, and white, very distinct," according to Peter Henderson in 1907, it was introduced by the legendary house of Krelage in 1900.
