This perennial herb makes a great specimen plant for any partially shaded garden. In full bloom Angelica can reach from 3 to 5 feet. Both the distinctive bold leaf patterns, and the umbrellas of fragrant white flowers are attractive to many beneficial insects. With their bold design Angelica is great as a back border, or in a planter box. Blooms in the summer. Native to coastal mountain ranges of California and southern Oregon. Affinity to serpentine soil: 2.7 (strong indicator). An important plant for the Pomo for its many medicinal and shamanistic uses. Found in wooded areas., rocky hillsides, from coastal bluffs to the high dry slopes of the sierras. Communitites located in Chaparral, Yellow Pine Forest, Mixed Evergreen Forest, Redwood Forest. Between 2000 and 8000 feet.
