Angelica archangelica is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with green foliage. In spring and summer green and white flowers emerge followed by yellow fruit. Attracts bees, beneficial insects and butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly shade and even moisture - regular water. Does well in average, clay, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and humidity tolerant.

The floriferous namesake of St. Michael the Archangel, who is supposed to have revealed its power to battle the plague, Angelica archangelica's luxuriant, tropical-looking foliage makes a dramatic entrance each spring as leaves unfurl to a length of 2 to 3 ft. Flower buds of mauve, strikingly set against its deeply divided bright green verdure, herald the imposing lime-tinted white flowers surmounting thick, erect stalks. This Angelica's aromatic young shoots have long been used as a flavoring in sweet confections.

Angelica archangelica is an uncommonly dramatic sweet-scented perennial, great in form and size alike. Huge 8" greeny-white umbels top 6 ribbed stalks, followed by pale yellow egg-shaped fruits. A plant that "makes a statement" as they say! Many medicinal uses too.
