Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The arching branches of this medium-size (3-6') shrub form a fountain of deep purple leaves complemented by soft-yellow flowers in mid-summer; unusual and attractive in the partly-shaded border or woodland. PSh/M
You might buy it because it is rust resistant, but you fall in love with it for its purple foliage, arching habit, and copious bloom -- pale yellow flowers in summer that are delicious against the purple leaves. A shrubby St. John's wort, to 3-6 ft tall, first introduced by Heronswood Nursery. For sun or part shade in hottest climates with average summer water. Evergreen in upper USDA zone 8 and frost hardy in zone 6.
Is one of the few St. Johnsworts we still grow. Some varieties get rust and defoliate while others are thugs and take over. H. ‘Purple Fountain’ has dark purple narrow leaves on an arching plant three feet tall. Flowers are golden yellow in late spring.
