Nursery contributed plant descriptions

These cup sized leaves reach mature height upwards of 5' tall. Great var for normal climates.
The bluish-gray leaves face up forming cups that show off the dark purple petioles and veins. A tetraploid with strong stems and thick leaves that can hit 7 feet! Hardy as low as 6b (Oh my!), it makes a great tropical statement in the garden or in containers in evenly moist soil and full sun. It can also be grown as a marginal in ponds. Yellowish-white spathes and spadixes may appear in summer but are usually hidden by the foliage. Mulch in winter. If in a container, put it in a shed or garage.
Colocasia Bikini-tini is a new introduction Brian's Botanicals. We have been breeding these colocasias for cold hardiness and more dramatic colors. This plant has over wintered for 3 years in zone 6 Kentucky. Colocasia Bikini-tini has very dark stems with green leaf and dark veins under the leaves. The plant has very unique leaves that cup up to hold water. Just watch out after it rains because every leaf is full of water. I also believe this plant is a polyploid due because the leaves are so thick and it is completely sterile. This plant grows 5 - 7' tall and has great presents the landscape. We recommend growing it full sun, well drained area and only mature or well established plants should be left out for the winter cold. Adding mulch in colder climates can add to a vigorous show in spring. If you are growing basjoo, this plant will acts exactly the same way and adds tropical color to the landscape. Foliage: Dark stems, light green leaves that cup up to hold water. Flowers: Yellow spath Height: 5 to 7 feet
