Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Alocasia zebrina is an unusual Elephant Ear tropical displaying green arrowhead leaves on unique, long zebra striped stalks. An upright, vase-shaped clump habit. Elephant Ear Plants are great for adding color and texture in landscapes and containers. Works well as a houseplant as well! Keep evenly moist and fertilize monthly during the growing season. Protect from frost!
The Alocasia Reticulata zebrina has a large, arrow-shaped, plain green leaves on a slender stalk pale with thick veins and lightly undulate margin and white spathe.
Alocasia zebrine (Reticulata) is a very rare plant seldom seen in the wild. A few years ago plants were selling as high as 150.00 for small starts. That was if you could find a grower and get on the waiting list for a start of this rare and unusual plant. The foliage is very narrow and sharply arrowhead or hastate shaped. Each leaf is a dark blue green with an odd coloration effect commonly called reticulated. To me it the patter on the foliage looks like the reflection of light off of water. This is an extremely unusual feature for any plant. With green and brown striped petioles. Plant can grow 3 to 5 feet tall in ideal conditions. Thanks to tissue culture this very hard to find species is now reduced in price and available for others to grow. Foliage: Very narrow foliage with a blue to green coloration in a odd pattern giving it the name reticulata. Petioles are striped green and brown. Flowers: Dark green hooded Height: 4 to 5 feet tall or more in idea conditions.
