Flowers are self-pollinating and seeds may be harvested when flowers are fully open. The seeds are an ancient grain used by the Aztec, Inca and Mayan civilizations. Both foliage and seeds are edible, delicious, protein rich and gluten free. Very easy to grow, low maintenance and heat-loving.
