Weird name. Cool plant. This uncommon, non-spreading mint has broad lustrous aromatic leaves with silvery flower bracts and very showy pinkish flowers on plants with a nice compact habit. This native is happiest at the wood's edge, so it is excellent for a naturalized border or woodland garden. Mountain Mint is one of the best nectar sources for native butterflies and bees. The leaves are loaded with pulegone, the same insect repellent found in pennyroyal. Rub it on the skin to repel mosquitoes!
A cloud of dense green leaves dusted with powdered sugar, or so it seems, for this spearmint scented mint family member has a multitude of silvery-white bracts surrounding the tiny clustered pink flowers. Easily grown in rich, regular to moist, well-drained soils; it spreads to make pleasing clumps, but is not invasive.
What's not to love? A handsome Mountain Mint which runs a bit, but is redeemed by a summer long floral display. Showy silvery bracts surrounding central disks rimmed with tiny pale pink/white flowers attract tons of beneficial insects and butterflies. And don't forget fragrance..it provides an invigorating minty scent. Grows 28-30" tall.
Pinkish blooms with white bracts give it the most attractive bloom in the genus. The white bracts appear to be dusted with snow in summer. Long blooms time - July thru September. If cut back early in the season, it's more compact and the bracts are showier. Leaves are broader and more lustrous than others in the Genus. A great bug repellent, it's loaded with pulegone, the same insect repellent found in Pennyroyal.

(Stone Mint) A gently spreading, dense colony forming perennial. Stiff erect stems, clothed in pairs of spear shaped leaves, start growth in spring. In early summer, the top leaves, surrounding a ring of small white flowers, turn bright silver.Cut back to ground level after flowering for a repeat performance in autumn.Tough, tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions, survives dry periods remarkably well and is rarely, if ever, affected by pests. An unusual and totally addictive plant, best used in mass plantings.Words fail to describe just how good this really is.

Considered by many to be the best of the Mountainmints, Clustered Mountainmint produces an abundance of tiny whitish tubular blooms touched with purple or lavender in tight clusters held above the attractive bluish white bracts. The bracts are probably more showy than the flowers but the flowers attract loads of pollinators including bees and small butterflies. The foliage is wonderfully fragrant and can be used in teas and cooking. This is a durable and slowly spreading native perennial that flowers throughout the summer months.Clustered Mountainmint is one of our favorites to pick and smell as we walk through the garden.Grown from locally collected seed.
