Bright-pink flowers in 3-4" spikes and broad silky leaves distinguish this pretty, but tough, dwarf shrub. S/M-D/GDr
Small dense deciduous shrub mounds 2-3, slowly expanding (not invasive); fabulous rose pink Wisteria-like drooping flowers June July, then intermittent thru fall. Bright green foliage is textural and pretty. Full sun, water when dry, decent soil drainage (tolerates some drought). Dislikes the heat & humidity of the south. For the best look, cut to the ground in winter. USDA Z5
Pendulant spikes of pink pea-like blooms are borne throughout summer on this spreading shrubby perennial. A tough medium height groundcover for shade. A Dawn Stover Nifty Fifty favorite herbaceous plant! Dawn is a Research Associate at Stephen F Austin in Nacogdoches, TX and currently maintains the Mast Arboretum plant collection. A low, dense suckering shrub (quite slow growing, though) that makes an excellent mass planting but can also be used as a focus plant is you can mow around it. Vivid rose-pink flower spikes, 4-5" long, cover this shrub in June with occasional rebloom for the rest of the summer. The stems die back in severe winters so treat it like a Buddleia in the north. 3 feet tall and good to zone 4.
