Lovely, evergreen Tongue Fern, with 6-8” long leaves on slowly expanding, furry rhizomes creating a clump eventually 12-18” wide. As plants mature, random serrations can occur along edges of some of the margins on the irregular streaked, yellow and apple green leaves. Being epiphytic, these plants need excellent drainage in humus rich soil - containers, tree trunks, rotting logs, slopes… also a great houseplant. Light to full shade, no direct sun, let dry between waterings.
Pyrrosia lingua is a common rock-dwelling fern from northeast Asia with tongue-shaped, leathery fronds with cinnamon-felted undersides. 'Ogon Nishiki' is a very rare thing in that it is a variegated fern. Every leaf offers different light green stripes on an emerald green background. It can be grown in open potting media, orchid mix, or on a slab. Keep dry in winter; water and fertilize in summer. A good houseplant.
Very thick, glossy green with yellow streaking fronds. Excellent rock garden fern. Plant in partial shade in well drained soil, Grows well amoungst rocks and on slopes. Height: 8 to 12 inches. Semi-Stoloniferous. Zones 8-10. Evergreen.
