Pyrrosia lingua is an evergreen rock-dwelling fern from northeast Asia with tongue-shaped, leathery fronds with cinnamon-felted undersides. 'Hiryu' is a rare and intriguing form with boldly serrated edges to each frond. It can be grown in open potting mix, orchid mix, or on a slab. Keep dry in winter; water and fertilize in summer. A good houseplant.

This most amazing and rare Tongue Fern cultivar sets a high bar with its deeply serrated semi-evergreen leaves (the serration increasing with age) and felted undersides with a coppery hue...calling it ‘highly textural’ is an understatement. We have had visitors swoon almost to fainting as they cast eyes on this plant! Leaves are 8-10” tall on slow-spreading rootstock. Epiphytic, so needs excellent drainage, walls, stumps, pots, can also be grown indoors.
