Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Siberian-hardy, this evergreen perennial has the large leaves of its genus (reddish in the sun) with nodding magenta-to-crimson flowers on stalks which branch rather than ?umbrella? in late winter to early spring PSh-Sh/M
This is a really good evergreen perennial with big, generous, glossy leaves that hails from Siberia's Altai Mountains. It's an excellent edging plant which gives a strong weight and good contrast with finer textured foliage. Attractive pink flowers in early spring get the garden off to a good start.
Big, bold, round glossy leaves, and little spikes of white flowers in the spring, but the real reason to grow this is for the winter foliage, which flushes wonderful shades of red and purple. Absolutely essential once the hostas go dormant and shade gardens can be looking pretty darn sparse. As an added bonus, this thing goes about under the common name of "pig squeak" because if you rub the leaves against each other, they make a loud squeaking noise. Perfect for entertaining small children. And immature adults. Zone 4.
Leaves are heart-shaped with wavy, finely-toothed edges. Grows to 12" with rose or lilac flowers in late winter and spring. Heat and cold tolerant. Siberia.
