Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This shrub will be smaller and more restrained than E. 'chrysantha'. The leaves are 3"x1" wide. The golden yellow flowers are pendant and bloom February-March. Needs protection with us. We grow among evergreen shrubs.
Used at one time in high-class paper making in Japan, this lovely Daphne relative (to 6') has leaves clothed in silky hairs beneath. In spring, clusters of somewhat fragrant creamy-yellow flowers. PSh/Med
Compared to E. chrysantha, the leaves are longer and slimmer and seem more refined. Still wonderful silver buds in winter, and fragrant flowers in spring.

This oriental cousin of the daphne is a deciduous shrub growing to 6' tall. The dropping of the leaves in fall expose the graceful branching of the plant and the fine flaky bark which is used in China to make a high-grade paper. Pale yellow, fragrant flowers are borne in large clusters in late winter, even before the lime green leaves.
