Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Selected in Canada for its cold hardiness and PROFUSE blooms, this 4-5' native is a ?blizzard? of fragrant single white flowers lasting up to 4 week in late springing; a COPF introduction. S-PSh/M
Blizzard' Mock Orange gets both parts of its name from its flowers. The 'Blizzard' variety is named because its flowers are pure white and so dense it looks like the whiteout in a blizzard. And Mock Orange comes from its fragrant flowers which smell like sweet oranges. Like lilies and other highly fragrant plants, a single Mock Orange plant will fill a large area with its lovely perfume-like fragrance. The flowers last for a few weeks in early summer, typically in early June.
'Blizzard' is more compact than other varieties with a more evenly rounded habit and so requires less pruning. Mock Oranges are related to Hydrangeas and have similar pruning needs; prune right after the plants have finished flowering and you can cut plants back hard if needed.

Native to the western U.S. and tolerant of heat and drought but also thrives under normal conditions. Can be used in xeric gardens.
