Nursery contributed plant descriptions

One of the best for first time growers. Mariesii Perfecta is not very commonly grown but its name is often misused for most other lacecaps. This is an outstanding plant with pale pink or pale blue flowers which last on the plant for an extremely long time. Petals compete with one another to form a crowded lacecap type head. The plant is vigorous in partial shade and is extremely hardy and blooms faithfully. Shiny green leaves add to its beauty. Breathtaking!
This choice lacecap Hydrangea deserves center stage, where its lovely broad flowers, in shades of lilac to bright blue, can create a colorful splash. Brushed with streaks of claret as they mature, the blossoms are still alluring in November, and if picked at the right time will dry to an exquisite silvery blue. Handsome and robust, the glossy foliage often displays burgundy-hued margins as it cloaks green branches speckled in red. 'Blue Wave' is irresistible next to Philadelphus 'Manteau d'Hermine, while golden-leafed Carex skirts below.
Blue flowers in acid soil, more pink in alkaline soil. Deciduous, Blooms on old wood. Regular water. Zones 6-9
