Colocasia esculenta 'Ele Paio' is a very rare taro or elephant ear named after the rare Hawaiian flycatcher bird. It offers large, dramatic, arrow-shaped, variegated, glossy green and white leaves randomly splashed and spotted in white. Every leaf is different! Summer blooms consist of a yellow spathe and spadix. Grow as a marginal plant by ponds or in pots or beds with evenly moist soil. Though potentially hardy to zone 7b, they are best brought in as a houseplant over winter. Deer and rabbit resistant.

This is a spectacular rare elephant ear that originally was available only to the Hawaiian Royalties. The 3' tall leaves are heavily spotted with paint-like white flecks. The markings are random and no two leaves are the same. Some of the leaves may have white spots as large as half of the leaf and others have freckles. A real eye catcher. AAA+ disease resistance.
