Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Spirea japonica 'Little Princess' is one of the smallest Spirea varieties and often grows to only twelve inches tall. The short stems branch heavily without requiring pruning forming a very dense plant that flowers so profusely the leaves are hidden behind light pink flowers for weeks at a time. Plants prune well and this variety thrives when formal rounded specimens are necessary for borders or to accent larger plantings. Of course you can also just let the plant grow on its own and appreciate the small spherical shape formed on its own!

This variety produces flowers on new wood which means that heavy pruning is best done in winter or late summer. Deer don't bother 'Little Princess' as much as most other plants but they can be eaten down in areas prone to lots of deer traffic.

Despite the dwarf stature of this plant, 'Little Princess' actually establishes very quickly.
A deciduous, dense, compact mound with bright green, toothed foliage and pink blooms in late spring through the summer. Growth Rate medium
Little Princess is one of the best dwarf spireas, growing into a small mound 2-3' wide and 2' tall after 10 years. Light pink flowers appear in abundance in late spring.
