Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Bright coppery pink new growth matures to golden yellow and finally to green in summer and returns to its colorful side in fall when it reverts to bronze. Large light pink, lightly fragrant, bell shaped flowers are born from May to frost. A tough and durable evergreen shrub. An open pollinated seedling (along with 'Rose Creek') of Abelia chinense and selected through Michael Dirr's breeding program at UGA. Abelias are easily grown, drought, salt, deer, and pest resistant upright to arching evergreen to semi-evergreen shrubs. Adapatable to a variety of soil conditions.
Another great Abelia (can there be too many?) with typical glossy dark green leave sometime with a tinge of bronze. Bright pink calyces and white flower, 3/4" are FRAGRANT and in bloom from summer til Frost. Compact new growth is copper, then bronzy yellow then green -- quite a display. Rosy bronze fall foliage. Introduced by Dr. Michael Dirr, U. of GA -- THE shrub expert in this country!
