Nursery contributed plant descriptions

These are the grape hyacinths that you remember from when you were a kid and picked the neighbor's flowers - oops. Grown for hundreds of years throughout the Mediterranean region, Europe and North America, armeniacum naturalizes with bulb offsets and with seeds, happily popping up in unexpected places. Lightly fragrant, charming and perfect for that bud vase that never gets out of the cupboard.

I believe this has now been lumped into armenaicum, which it is clearly related to.
These are so cute! They can be forced inside for winter blooms, or grown outside in "river" mode. They are tough little critters, and will naturalize anywhere. They have the odd habbit of sprouting leaves in the fall. Don't worry about it; they know what they're doing! (Large 6-7 cm around bulbs)
